Android faces a big security breach!

Security vulnerabilities continue to multiply on Android devices. Dirty stream is a new threat that looks rather worrying!

For some time now, Google’s operating system has been facing a multitude of problems. Indeed, the Microsoft security team recently discovered a breach. Called “Dirty Stream”, it turns out to be rather formidable. It threatens billions of smartphones and tablets, by hiding in certain applications, with a serious risk to users’ personal data.

Dirty stream, a high-risk vulnerability!

Discovered a few days ago by Microsoft, this virus endangers your apps, as well as your personal data. As it spreads, it threatens to affect countless Android devices. Between tablets and smartphones, nothing will escape it.

Furthermore, this malware targets vulnerabilities such as “ File Overwrite », which, incidentally, control the flow of data between applications thanks to the file sharing mechanism. This allows it, in fact, to execute unauthorized code and access sensitive data.

From there, this vulnerability transforms a banal functionality into a formidable weapon. The serviceWPS Officeis the perfect example, especially if you have the Xiaomi file manager.

Running on various popular Android apps, it can introduce a malicious breach. The latter will more easily come into contact with your operating system and will thus be able to trap some of the most legitimate ones. Indeed, if you have incorrectly configured the permissions, they can bypass Android’s security mechanisms.

According to Microsoft, a “bad implementation” from the supplier “may introduce vulnerabilities that could allow bypassing read/write restrictions in an application’s home directory“.

Allowing one malicious application to transmit a file with a name or path to another, the flaw leaves the attacker “overwrite files in the latter’s home directory, vulnerable“. To avoid this, prevention is quite simply the best defense solution.

Indeed, to best counter-attack “Dirty Stream” or even other similar security breaches, you will need to follow certain advice, including updating your apps. Of course, new updates are put in place to protect your devices and correct all kinds of malfunctions.

Furthermore, downloads from unofficial sources should be avoided. Conversely, the risk of malware infecting your data will be around 90%. This is why following these few measures will help you deal with this type of situation. What’s more, it will reduce the risk of malicious and unintentional intrusions on your devices.
