Weapons largely define your gameplay in Hades 2. Discover all the weapons as well as their aspects and the conditions to unlock them.
Just like its predecessor, Hades 2 offers a tempting selection of weapons to accompany you on your journey through hell.
From the devious Sister Blades to the devastating Selene Axe, no less than 5 weapons with radically different characteristics can be unlocked, with 3 possible versions of each weapon – called aspects – for even more customization.
Without further ado, discover the particularities of each weapon and aspect, and the method to unlock them.
Summary
Witch’s Scepter – Descura
The Witch’s Scepter is the weapon Melinoe starts with in Hades 2. It offers excellent range, thanks to her spear-like attacks but also to the rest of her kit full of very long-range skills.
Attacks and techniques
- Attack : Mid-range thrust. Attacks can be chained together in a 3-hit combo where each strike deals more damage
- Ω attack: Fires a long line of runes in front and behind you, which detonate to deal damage
- Technique: Fires a slow projectile that disappears and deals damage when it hits an enemy or obstacle
- Ω technique: Fires a projectile that explodes and deals area damage when it hits an enemy, an obstacle or reaches its maximum protection
Aspects of the Witch’s Scepter
Aspect of Melinoe
- Unblocking: Appearance unlocked by default
- Effect : Your actions Ω are channeled more quickly
- Improvement : Increased pipe speed
Aspect of Circe
- Unblocking: Silver x5, Lotus x5
- Effect : When you land 21 hits with your Attacks and Techniques, you become Calm.
- Calm: your Ω actions are faster and consume 0 mana
- Improvement : Increased the duration of the Calm effect
Appearance of Momos
- Unblocking: Limestone x2, Pearl x1
- Effect : While you have 50% of your HP or less, you can absorb the explosion from your Ω technique to restore 5 HP
- Improvement : Increased base damage of techniques
Sister Blades – Lim and Oros
Supergiant GamesThe combination of the dagger and the sickle form the Sister Blades, and they are the dream tool of assassins. With lightning-fast attacks and lightning-fast dagger throws, this weapon combination is lethal at any distance.
The Sister Blades can be unlocked very early in the game for a simple resource: Silver x1
Attacks and techniques
- Attack : Quick dagger strike at close range. Chaining the attack triggers a combo of two quick hits, a burst then a large circular strike
- Ω attack: Teleports you behind your target and violently hits the target and enemies in a small area
- Technique: Throw your dagger which deals damage to the first enemy hit
- Ω technique: Throws several daggers in a fan pattern. The number of daggers thrown depends on the duration of channeling
Aspects of the Sister Blades
Aspect of Melinoe
- Unblocking: Appearance unlocked by default
- Effect : Your attacks and techniques deal more damage when you hit your enemies from behind
- Improvement : Increased back damage
Aspect of Artemis
- Unblocking: Silver x15, Obsidian x1
- Effect : When you channel your Ω attack, you intermittently parry enemy attacks, which then allows you to retaliate
- Fight back : You become invulnerable for 1s, your next 9 hits have a +50% chance of inflicting critical damage
- Improvement : Increased attack speed Ω
Aspect of Pan
- Unblocking: Wool x1, Dark Mold x2
- Effect : Your techniques track enemies in your glyphs. Your Ω technique fires more projectiles
- Improvement : Additional projectiles for the Ω technique
Plutonian Torches – Ygnium
Supergiant GamesTorches are a strange weapon to say the least, capable of generating myriads of slow-moving projectiles towards your enemies or in orbit around you. They excel at medium distance.
Unlocking Plutonian Torches costs: Silver x3, Ash x3
Attacks and techniques
- Attack : Projects a spirit in a straight line, dealing damage to all enemies it passes through. Attack button can be held to chain attacks while channeling attack Ω
- Ω attack: Projects a larger spirit, dealing additional damage. Attack button can be held to chain attacks Ωeach costing a little mana
- Technique: Summons a flame that orbits the player chaotically for a few seconds, dealing damage to all enemies it hits
- Ω technique: Summons two flames that orbit the player for several seconds, dealing damage to all enemies they hit
Aspects of the Plutonian Torches

- Unblocking: Appearance unlocked by default
- Effect : Projectiles from your Ω technique persist longer
- Improvement : Increased duration of Ω technique
Aspect of Eos
- Unblocking: Strikewood x2, Golden Apple x1
- Effect : Your attacks come back to you when you perform your dash. Their size and damage increase continuously for 4 seconds
- Improvement : Increased max attack damage bonus
Aspect of Moros
- Unblocking: Bronze x2, Tears x2
- Effect : Your attacks persist longer and explode on contact with your techniques
- Improvement : Increased explosion damage
Selenic Ax – Zorephet
Supergiant GamesThe Moon Ax is probably the most lethal weapon in Hades 2, but it is also the slowest. Good positioning is the key to success with this heavy weapon capable of dealing colossal area of effect damage.
Unlocking the Moonstone Ax costs: Silver x15
Attacks and techniques
- Attack : Slow horizontal attack, dealing damage in a wide area. The third attack in the combo has an even longer animation, but unleashes a shockwave dealing huge damage
- Ω attack: You begin to spin around, forming a whirlwind of steel that regularly inflicts damage on all nearby enemies. Swirl duration depends on channeling time
- Technique: You swing the ax in front of you to block blows in front of you from one direction and dealing damage to enemies caught in the vortex
- Ω technique: You violently bring your ax down to the ground, generating three enormous shockwaves in front of you
Aspects of the Selenic Ax
Aspect of Melinoe
- Unblocking: Appearance unlocked by default
- Effect : You recover faster from executing your attacks and techniques
- Improvement : Reduced inaction time after an action
Aspect of Charon
- Unblocking: Pearl x5, O. of Loyalty x1
- Effect : Your glyph persists for 3 seconds longer. It becomes an Ω glyph and explodes when hit by your Ω technique
- Improvement : Increased damage and size of the glyph when hit by the Ω technique
Aspect of Thanatos
- Unblocking: Obsidian x3, Darkness x1
- Effect : You gain +1% critical strike chance when dealing damage with your Ω actions. This bonus is lost if you take damage
- Improvement : Increased maximum critical strike chance bonus
Silver Skull – Révaal
Supergiant GamesWhy have a bazooka when you can have exploding skulls? The Silver Skull will fulfill your dreams of destruction with its unique gameplay. While attacks allow you to send explosive skulls, techniques are dashes allowing you to recover your precious skulls in order to reuse them.
Unlocking the Silver Skull requires the following resources: Obsidian x2, Bronze x1
Attacks and techniques
- Attack : Throws a bouncing skull in a straight line, which explodes dealing area damage when it encounters an enemy, an obstacle, or when it reaches its maximum range. You can store up to 3 skulls, which you must collect to use your attacks again
- Ω attack: Throws a skull into the air, which crashes into the target area after a delay, dealing damage in a wide area
- Technique: You throw yourself in the targeted direction, dealing damage to enemies in your path
- Ω technique: You throw yourself in the targeted direction, projecting waves of energy perpendicular to your dash, dealing damage to enemies hit
Aspects of the Silver Skull
Aspect of Melinoe
- Unblocking: Appearance unlocked by default
- Effect : Your attacks deal more base damage for each shell (skull) on the field
- Improvement : Increased base damage bonus
Aspect of Medea
- Unblocking: Iron x4, Belladonna x1
- Effect : Your attack attaches to you. It explodes over a larger surface area upon contact with an obstacle, or after 3 seconds if applicable.
- Improvement : Increased attack and technique damage
Aspect of Persephone
- Unblocking: Moss x1, Poppy x5
- Effect : Any damage you inflict generates Glory, which extends your technique Ω
- Improvement : Increased damage of the Ω technique
How many weapons are there in Hades 2?
5 weapons are available in Hades 2 early access. Each of them has 3 aspects.
Nonetheless, it seems inevitable that at least one weapon will be added to the roguelite’s arsenal. Indeed, the weapon selection circle has 6 runes, of which only 5 are currently occupied.
Everything therefore suggests that a new – and probably last – weapon will be added later in early access, or even at the final release of the game.
How to unlock weapons in Hades 2?
When you begin your adventure as Mélinoé, you only have access to the Witch’s Scepter. To unlock the other weapons available, all you have to do is progress through the story by chaining down the descents into hell.
After certain progress points, a new weapon will be ready to unlock in your weapon selection circle. All you will then have to do is gather the few ingredients necessary to make it accessible.
How many aspects are there in Hades 2?
Each weapon has 3 aspects in Hades 2 early access. Since 5 weapons are available, the total number of aspects is therefore 15.
There is currently no indication as to whether other aspects will be added to the game in the future. However, the weapons of Hades the first of the name were all entitled to a fourth “secret” aspect. We can therefore hope for similar treatment for Melinoe’s arsenal in Hades 2.
How to unlock aspects in Hades 2?
In order to access the aspects of your weapons, you must obtain and perform the incantation “Aspect of Night and Darkness” using the cauldron.
This incantation is however only available after having progressed well in the game, and unlocked access to the surface.
To perform the incantation, you will need 5x Bronze (to be mined in the first region of the surface), and a Shadow that you can create using the Cauldron.
