Clothes don’t make a monk

If you’re looking for reliable wireless earbuds, it might be wise to think twice before making your purchase. Especially if it’s one of the most reputable brands on the market that catches your eye. While it is true that this sentence does not make much sense, that is not what the after-sales service (after-sales service) barometer from Fnac Darty.

Taking a look at the sustainability podium in the audio field, and more specifically the wireless earphonesthe most popular brands “renowned” display relatively low reliability indices. If Apple and Huawei seem to be the exceptions to the rule, this is not the case for Samsung, Bose, Sony, Jabra et JBL with respective scores of 79, 8, 36, 32 et 14.

To give you an idea, Apple et Huawei leave them far behind with clues of 129for the apple firm, and 134 for the Chinese firm. However, it is important to note that the latter displays lower scores elsewhere, unlike the American giant, which is at the top of the podium, and which seems to tick all the boxes with their range of wireless headphones.

The Fnac Darty barometer website states that this reliability index is calculated from the product failure rate. The more the product breaks down, the less reliable it is. The index is between 0 et 200which places Apple in top of basket. But how much can we trust this podium?

The legitimacy of Fnac Darty

To know this, we must first of all talk about Fnac Dartythe French giants which are today among the biggest heavyweights on the cultural and leisure products markets in Europe, and also that of household appliances. They were obviously not always one and the same entity, Fnac having l’acquisition of 51% shares of Darty in 2016.

The reliability index of their after-sales service barometer indicates one way to measure this characteristic very precise : ”Reliability is the ability to operate normally without breaking down. We rely on feedback from our ‘2500 after-sales service experts, who work on more than 2.5 million products each year.”

According to Darty technicians, certain measures can be taken to avoid unfortunate breakdowns on your wireless headphones, the latter being apparently common among the brands mentioned above: “88% of after-sales service interventions carried out on true wireless with noise reduction are repairs with parts or exchanges. These product failures could be delayed thanks to good maintenance reflexes. Here is the advice from the after-sales service barometer to limit breakdowns: ‘clean the tips regularly, and clean the charging contacts”’.””

According to the barometer, 65% of Fnac Darty customers buy wireless headphones simply because they need a new device. 24% of them replace a broken product that no longer works, and finally, the 11% remaining products replace a product that was still working.
