The Dark Knight has been transporting us to Gotham City for 15 years now, with the video game series Batman: Arkham. Over the years the fan community has only grown and today they are going crazy with the announcement that has been made.
Just like the Joker, Batman fans will descend into madness
In 2009, a video game was released which forever transformed the way of understanding the Dark Knight, among fans of video game content, it is Batman: Arkham Asylum. The game was a phenomenal success upon its release and the reviews were rave. It is even considered one of the best superhero video games of all time. After facing a slew of villains on this Arkham island in this first opus, fans had the opportunity to return to Bruce’s shoes several times on this prison island and in Gotham City, with no less than three others opus. However, if we don’t count the spin-off Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueit’s been 9 years since the last Batman: Arkham Knight is out and time is starting to get long.
The announcement which fell on May 1st will delight more than one and frustrate just as many and for good reason: the wait has been long but it is now official, the saga Batman: Arkham will be entitled to a new opus which will be released during the year and here is the first teaser:
This teaser of Batman: Arkham Shadow really doesn’t reveal much of the plot, but is nonetheless mouth-watering. However, it is important to note that this new game in the franchise will be a Meta Quest 3 exclusive. To avoid beating around the bush, you will have to invest in the VR headset from Meta, if you want to be able to play again the Dark Knight in the streets of Gotham and no, the PS5 or Xbox Series X will be of no use for this VR game.
This announcement is very interesting and does a lot of good. Because if until now, we had the opportunity to embody Bruce Wayne with a controller, or a keyboard and a mouse, this time we will be in the shoes of Batman in virtual reality. Who could have hoped for a better way to fight Gotham’s villains than to do it like this? If Batman: Arkham Asylum had revolutionized the genre around fifteen years ago, Batman: Arkham Shadow may well get there again with this new VR experience.
