If OpenAI works mainly in partnership with Microsoft, that does not mean that Apple could not use ChatGPT on its iPhones.
The Apple brand seems to be interested, at the moment, in OpenAI, a company with which it is in discussions, as explained by Reuters and Bloomberg. The goal ? Integrate features from the leading artificial intelligence firm into the next iPhone OS, iOS 18.
It must be said that Apple is a little behind other tech giants like Microsoft, which is in direct partnership with OpenAI, or Google with its Gemini model.
This negotiation does not necessarily mean that OpenAI models will be found in the iPhone. The Cupertino company seems to be hesitating between several options, and has also started negotiations with Google. It does not yet seem, at present, that the firm has made a definitive choice between the two companies, and we are never safe from a surprise with, potentially, an agreement with an outsider.
However, the brand will not have to wait too long before deciding, at least if it is in iOS 18 that it intends to integrate AI-boosted features. Indeed, the new version of Apple’s operating system will be presented in June…
