Fifteen years have passed since the release of Samsung’s first Android smartphone, the Galaxy i7500.

Here’s what we know

Introduced in April 2009 and released in June of the same year, the i7500 Galaxy marked the beginning of a new era for the company and was the first step towards recognizing Samsung as a giant in the global smartphone market .

This first Android smartphone from Samsung was distinguished from other devices of its time by its OLED screen and its more powerful battery. Hard to imagine today, but in 2009 these were innovative features. In addition, the Galaxy i7500 used a Qualcomm processor and a standard version of Android, which opened up many possibilities for users.

Equipped with a 3.2-inch HVGA OLED display, Qualcomm processor, 128MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, this smartphone was the king of its time. It also had a 5-megapixel rear camera and came pre-installed with Android 1.5.

A year after the release of the Galaxy i7500, Samsung hit the global market with the legendary Galaxy S. This device, with its Super AMOLED display, powerful processor and many other innovative features, set new standards in mobile technology .

As we celebrate the 15th anniversary of the i7500 Galaxy, we can only see how Samsung has set the direction of smartphone development and chosen to stay at the forefront of technology over the years.

And although the devices of the old Samsung Galaxy line surprise us every year with new functions and capabilities, we remember that they all started with a small but important step – the i7500 Galaxy.
