Volla tablet announced, Kickstarter campaign begins

The German Volla launches its first tablet, under its Volla OS operating system degoogled, fully compatible with Ubuntu Touch (Linux). The crowdfunding campaign started on April 17 on Kickstarter, as was the case for the brand’s first phone.

Here is Volla Tablet, the first tablet from the German manufacturer, previously known for its mobile phones and smartphones. The device, unveiled this week, has a large 12.3-inch screen. Its technical sheet:

✔︎ 4 speakers
✔︎ Removable keyboard
✔︎ 8-core MediaTek Gaming G99 processor
✔︎ 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage
✔︎ 13+5 MP main camera (AF, FF) and 5 MP front camera
✔︎ 10,000 mAh battery
✔︎ Support 2G/3G/4G cellular networks + Wifi 6 + Bluetooth
✔︎ Volla OS 13 operating system, F-Droid app store and Aurora Store

The app Volla Start has been adapted for the big screen for the occasion, with new functions such as widgets, quick switching between applications and live results for entries in the dashboard text field.

Volla OS 13 is provided for the occasion. As a reminder, the Volla operating system is based on the ASOP (open Source) version of Android, without Google services or Play services. The German company has replaced basic applications like phone calls and address book with selected applications that are also open Source, including VPN (on option).

Security mode and multi-boot feature are also included in Volla OS for the tablet, which will allow installing Ubuntu Touch. With a detachable keyboard and up to 2 SIM cards, the Volla tablet can be used as a laptop, tablet and smartphone in one device.

La Volla Tablet will be delivered to the first investors during the month of September 2024 in Europe (price: just under €600, or 15% reduction). To do this, you must pre-order on KickStarter.
