Sony (subtly) unveils the PS5 Pro for the 30th anniversary of Playstation

Talked about for many months, the Playstation 5 Pro has finally been subtly revealed in a drawing celebrating the brand’s 30th anniversary.

The PlayStation brand will soon be thirty years old. Several celebrations are planned to pay tribute to the brand, including the Tokyo Game Show, where its creator, Ken Kutaragi, will hold an anniversary conference.

But Sony has a few surprises in store, since as many Internet users have noticed, the logo for the 30th anniversary of Playstation contains… the Playstation 5 Pro, as noted by the specialist site Eurogamer.

A super powerful console but without games

The new version of the PS5 has been the subject of rumors for many months, and a few days ago, its design was leaked on the web. It is precisely the latter that can be seen on the artwork (drawing) released by Sony. We see a console whose design is very close to the PS5 “Slim”, but with “stripes” in its center.

We’ll have to make do with that, but there’s already a lot of information available about the PS5 Pro. The computing power could reach 33.5 TeraFLOPS (compared to 10.3 for the PS5), which would notably improve the fluidity of games, especially to have 4K resolution and 60 FPS (frames per second).

The console could have an image “scaling” system directly integrated, in other words, a direct competitor to Nvidia’s DLSS and AMD’s FSR. This allows you to cut down on the resolution to increase performance, without it being too visible to players.

Insider-Gaming even announces that a release would be planned as early as November. The developers would have been asked to make their game compatible for this date. Finally, the official announcement could come later this month, probably between September 16 and 20, as part of a State of Play event.

Still, this release worries some players. Sony has announced that no major game from its catalog of franchises will be released before April 2025 at the earliest. The PS5 Pro is therefore likely to be launched without any flagship title to serve as a standard-bearer.
