New pins have just appeared on Google Maps for places and points of interest: restaurants, cafes, museums, hospitals, etc. They are rounder with a white background.

Apps like Google Maps regularly have to reinvent themselves. But this time, it’s with a redesign of an element that is nevertheless iconic: pins. We’re talking about those that represent different establishments and points of interest like restaurants, stores, etc.

Even though these pins are legendary, it must be said that their old appearance could sometimes make the screen almost unreadable. And that’s why Google has apparently swapped them for new pins that are much more rounded, with more discreet colors: a white background and a circle in a generally pastel and soft color. The circle contains the inevitable icon that allows you to identify the meaning of the pin (at least if you haven’t instinctively integrated the color code yet).

One pin, however, retains its original appearance. We are of course talking about the destination pin, which retains the iconic red design. This allows it to be a little more visible compared to the other pins, which are now much more discreet. The logo therefore continues to keep all its meaning as an allusion to this unique pin.
