But why didn’t Google think of this super practical function earlier for replying to emails on a smartphone?

Google is rolling out a brand new feature to its Gmail mobile app: it’s now much more convenient to reply to an email. How? Thanks to a new quick reply window directly integrated into the interface.

The Mountain View firm is making our lives easier on its Gmail mobile application. To respond to an email from a contact, you previously had to click on one of the three action buttons located at the bottom of the page: reply, reply to all or forward. This organization has now been shaken up and simplified as much as possible, we learn in an official blog post.

A simplified user journey

How? Google has kept it simple by adding a brand new quick reply window. Visually, it almost feels like you’re browsing an instant messaging application. With this addition, there’s no need to open a new window: just click in the dedicated field and write your email.

In addition to optimizing the user journey, all this offers the opportunity to write your text while taking a look at the email previously received. A very good way to refresh your memory if you have forgotten one or more elements sent by your contact. In short, it is simply better thought out.

For whom and for when?

An “Enlarge” action button also allows you to enlarge the window to write and reread a long message more easily. The user therefore does not have to scroll in a reduced window, and in this case has access to the entire message at a glance.

This feature is currently rolling out to all Android users. Workspace customers are also eligible for it, but in a more gradual 15-day period. iOS users will have to be patient: Google does not specify a specific date. Does it simply say “later in the year ».
