First deaths, millions of people without electricity – and a path of destruction. Hurricane Milton has reached the west coast of Florida (the latest information can be found in the ticker). The US authorities have now downgraded the hurricane to level 1 (weak). Nevertheless, the responsible US authorities warn of rain, devastating winds and flash floods. Local authorities have confirmed nineteen hurricane-triggered tornadoes in affected areas. A final assessment will only be possible later in the day US time (read here on the political impact of Milton). But pictures already show severe damage.
