Lisa Marie Presley kept her dead son Ben in the next room

The death of Lisa Marie Presley in January 2023 shocked her family, which was marked by strokes of fate. In her newly published memoir “From Here to the Great Unknown,” Elvis Presley’s daughter has her say one last time.

Among other things, she reveals how much the death of her son Benjamin Keough hurt. She tells how she kept his body for two months after his death and called in a tattoo artist to get a tattoo – the same one that adorned her son’s skin.

According to Page Six, Lisa Marie Presley describes in the book that after Benjamin’s death she had to force herself to stay alive for her other children. That also meant that she couldn’t say goodbye to her son straight away. “My house has a separate bedroom and I kept Ben there for two months,” Page Six quotes from the book.

There is no law in the state of California that says you have to bury someone immediately. Lisa wrote: “I found a very sensitive funeral director.” She promised her that she would “bring Ben to her”. In addition, Presley couldn’t decide for a long time whether she should bury her late son in Hawaii or in Graceland, the property in Memphis where Elvis died and is buried.

Ultimately, the family decided on a funeral in Malibu; Benjamin was buried next to his grandfather Elvis in Graceland. Lisa Marie Presley also found her final resting place there in 2023.

A particularly strange moment occurred when Lisa Marie Presley and daughter Riley Keough (35) wanted to get a tattoo in honor of their deceased son and brother respectively. Benjamin Keough wore his sister’s name on his collarbone and his mother’s on his hand. The two ultimately wanted to tattoo his name in the respective places. When the tattoo artist asked if they had photos of Benjamin’s tattoos so he could compare the font and position, Lisa Marie replied: “No, but I can show you.”

Riley Keough, who completed the book after her mother’s death, wrote: “Lisa Marie Presley had just asked this poor man to look at her dead son’s body, which happened to be right in the room next to us. I’ve had an extremely absurd life, but this moment is in the top five.”
