FCSG gets a point and prevents Servette from leading the table

FC St. Gallen has to tremble after taking a lead against Servette, but at least saves a point in the 1-1 draw.

Shortly before the final whistle, Dereck Kutesa had the winning goal for the guests, but missed from a tight angle. It would have been an undeserved reward after Servette showed an improvement in performance in the second half.

Miroslav Stevanovic scored the equalizer when the second half was less than a minute old. The Eastern Swiss team, who had taken the lead in the 21st minute with a header from Lukas Görtler, seemed to lose their strength as the game wore on. Possibly a result of the away game in the Conference League in Belgium on Thursday.

In the 81st minute, St. Gallen’s Hugo Vandermersch was sent off with a second yellow card, after which the Eastern Swiss team concentrated on defending the draw. This was achieved with difficulty and hardship. Servette remains one point behind Lucerne, Zurich and Lugano, while St. Gallen is four points behind the top trio.
