Pamela Anderson honored in Zurich for “Comeback of the Year”.

Hollywood actress Pamela Anderson (57, “Baywatch”) accepted the “Golden Eye” award at the Zurich Film Festival. She had been written off by some, but her time was not over yet, she said in her acceptance speech: “Accompany me in this new chapter, there are no secrets.” Anderson was recognized both for her varied career and for her role in director Gia Coppola’s “The Last Showgirl.”

Festival director Christian Jungs called it “Oscar-worthy.” He spoke of the “comeback of the year”. Anderson plays the dancer Shelley at the end of her career because her show in Las Vegas is canceled after more than 30 years. “When I read the script, I thought, ‘That’s me. No one else can play this role,'” Anderson said.

Anderson became a cult figure in the 1990s as a lifeguard in the series Baywatch. She celebrated numerous relationships and divorces in public. Meanwhile, Anderson shows an “authentic vulnerability,” according to the film festival.

As with many public appearances in the recent past, she appeared almost without make-up. She read her acceptance speech quietly from the paper. The official name of the festival is “Zurich Film Festival” (ZFF), without an umlaut, after the English spelling of the Swiss city.
