THE All Blacks have been real stars in Lyon since their arrival at the city hall at the beginning of September to compete in the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France.
In less than 20 days, the Lyonnais have already seen them everywhere: riding Fourvière à Vélo’v, having fun on an electric scooter, eating nachos in a restaurant or even shopping in Part-Dieu. In short, they are living their best life in the capital of Gaul.
A hotel geared towards rugby in Gerland
Their base camp, established in Gerland, allows them to train while taking advantage of the infrastructures of the LOU rugby including the Matmut Stadium, where the Top 14 club usually plays.
The hotel selected to stay in Lyon is very strategic. The Ruck Hotel is located in the middle of their Gerland base camp. This new four-star hotel with 134 rooms was built in December 2022. It belongs to the Lyon group GL Events, an events giant and owner of LOU Rugby.

The hotel aims to offer “modern” catering through an authentic concept favoring short circuits and based on the Lyon destination as well as the values of rugby.
Moreover, the restaurant L’atelier du Ruck focuses on bistronomy with chef Alexis Courbière. All Rugby World Cup matches are broadcast live on a giant screen (reservation required).
For obvious security reasons, it is specified that during the Rugby World Cup, the exterior gates are closed. You have to ring the intercom to enter.
The opportunity to watch a match in the place where the All Blacks live… New Zealand players that you will be able to see during a free event open to the public in Gerland on October 4.
