That his quarterback Dak Prescott also gets a similar vote of confidence from the team, so the duo will be reunited for several more seasons.
The Cowboys have had discussions with Prescott, who can become a free agent after this season because the team can’t put the franchise tag on him in 2025.
“If you look at our stats together, they’re extraordinary. I have no doubt they’re going to be able to get along. Everybody knows I want Dak to stay here. Jerry [Jones, propriétaire et directeur général] also wants Dak to stay here. So let’s take control of this and put an end to the speculation. Let’s go win.”
Lamb led the NFL with 135 receptions last year and set a team record with 1,747 receiving yards while scoring 14 touchdowns (12 passing and two rushing). Those numbers made him the second-highest paid receiver in the NFL behind Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings. Lamb will earn an annual salary of $34 million over the life of the deal, which came with a $38 million signing bonus — a record for a receiver — and $100 million in guaranteed money.
To secure the deal, Lamb went on strike for more than 30 days before reporting to the team’s training camp Tuesday, the day after his contract extension was announced. He will have less than two weeks of practice time with the team when the season opens Sept. 8 in Cleveland against the Browns.
Lamb said he has been keeping up with the changes to the offense by logging into his iPad daily to study practice film. He has also been in touch with his teammates.
Physically, Lamb said he will be ready to play a full game, just needing “a little bit of pushing around. Not really hitting, but getting back into contact as I run.”
“Honestly, I don’t think I’ll be delayed at all. I’m ready. I’m preparing for these moments. I’ve played this game my whole life.”
