Tanguy De La Forest wins gold in para-sport shooting, after silver on Friday

PARALYMPICS – He has acquired a taste for the podium. Frenchman Tanguy De La Forest, already a silver medalist in R4 para-sport shooting on Friday in Châteauroux, the first Paralympic medal of his career at age 46, won gold this Sunday, September 1st in the 10-meter prone rifle shooting in the SH2 category.

This is France’s fifth title in these Games, obtained just a few seconds after that of Marie Patouillet in para-cycling on the track.

In Tanguy de La Forest’s SH2 category, the handicap concerns the upper limb(s). The use of a support is then necessary to support the weight of the rifle. The competition is mixed.

Ahead after the first salvos, the Breton, who suffers from a neuromuscular disease, then fought a great battle against the Brazilian Alexandre Galgani, before breaking away in the final shots.

Tanguy de La Forest had already come close to the gold medal on Friday, where he finished in silver in the 10-meter standing rifle shooting.
