Neymar negotiates his departure from Al-Hilal

Neymar is in discussions with the Saudi club Al-Hilal to consider leaving before the end of his contract scheduled for June 2025. However, financial differences are complicating the negotiations, an internal club source told AFP.

According to this source, who wished to remain anonymous, “Neymar’s high financial demands represent a major obstacle in these talks”.

At the same time, the Brazilian press reports that Santos FC, Neymar’s training club, is in talks to repatriate the player. However, while Al-Hilal seems to favor a permanent transfer, Neymar would rather opt for a loan formula.

Recruited by Al-Hilal in August 2023 from Saint-Germain for an amount of around 100 million euros, accompanied by a substantial salary, Neymar only played seven matches in the colors of the Saudi club, scoring a goal and providing three assists.

His first season was marked by a serious injury to the cruciate ligament of his left knee in October 2023, which occurred during an international match with the Brazilian selection against Uruguay. Therefore, in January 2024, Al-Hilal had excluded Neymar from their roster for local competitions, replacing him with Brazilian defender Renan Lodi. Neymar has only been registered this season in the Asian Champions League and the Copa del Rey.

After a period of convalescence and a gradual return to the Asian Champions League, Neymar suffered an injury again in November 2024, this time to a thigh, further keeping him away from the field for several weeks. He recently returned to training, but his coach, Portuguese Jorge Jesus, expressed reservations about his physical condition.

In an interview with Globo, Jorge Jesus said: “After a 15-month injury, it is very difficult for a player to get back to his best level, regardless of the location. Neymar remains an exceptional player, but physically he is not yet ready for the championship. »

Despite Neymar’s prolonged absence, Al-Hilal had a remarkable season last year, completing a domestic treble and setting a record with 34 consecutive league victories.

If Neymar were to leave Al-Hilal, it would pave the way for the arrival of a new star to strengthen the ranks of the Riyadh club.
