Connor McDavid is suspended three games by the National League.
He was suspended for the double-check he inflicted on Vancouver Canucks forward Connor Garland on Saturday night.
The 28-year-old center is the Oilers’ second scorer this season with 20 goals and 65 points in 43 games. Edmonton sits in first place in the Pacific Division with the Vegas Golden Knights at 29-14-3 and is six points behind the Washington Capitals for the best record in the NHL.
Canucks defenseman Tyler Myers also received a three-game suspension for his double-check against Evan Bouchard.
McDavid’s only suspension came in 2019 and lasted two games. He was then penalized for an illegal check on Nick Leddy’s head. No. 97 of the Oilers was not penalized earlier this week after his elbow to the head of Marcus Johansson of the Minnesota Wild.
-Vancouver and Edmonton will face each other again on Thursday, this time on Edmonton’s side.
For his part, Myers was already suspended for three games in March 2012 following a hit on Scott Gomez in a game against the Montreal Canadiens.
