The “Cfrad-ICC” project, which runs from 2023 to 2025, aims to transform Cfrad into a place of memory and contemporary creation, while revitalizing the local artistic scene. This program aims to support contemporary Congolese artistic creation in the fields of theater, dance and performance arts.
To this end, Congolese artists are invited to present their project, which must result in an original creation, never broadcast. The project must be able to demonstrate lasting dissemination potential with prospects of repetition and dissemination after the public presentation.
Artists or artistic teams have the possibility of integrating emerging performers or authors but who must be supported by person(s) with proven professional experience, with national influence, and be able to carry out an original creation. . Projects must be autonomous and clearly defined. Candidates can submit their request to a third-party structure (delegated production) or a shared structure (for example within a collective.
The selection committee will be particularly attentive to the understanding and artistic translation of the project “ Cfrad-ICC, a place of memory and cultural life in full renaissance.”
Documents to provide: a detailed presentation of the artistic project, explaining the theme, the approach, the objectives of the creation. The stages of creation (writing, staging, outside view, sound/light, etc.) must be detailed in a timeline and budgeted; a CV or biography of the artist or company; presentation of the artistic team (director, choreographer, authors, etc.); a financial evaluation of the project (depending on the available envelope, it may be requested to adjust the budget); production partnerships and provisional co-financing (if applicable); a visual or video file (recommended), presenting extracts from previous creations or models of the future creation.

The selected projects will start in April and the creations will be presented when Cfrad reopens from January 2026. Financial assistance will be awarded to each project that is selected, the amount allocated will be between $5,000 and $20,000. The use of this budget must be detailed in the application file.
The projects will be evaluated by an artistic and technical committee made up of members of the French Embassy in Congo, the Ministry of Cultural, Tourist, Artistic Industry and Leisure, representatives of partner structures (such as the Théâtre du Nord and the Macouria Theater), and Congolese cultural entrepreneurs. The committee will examine the relevance and originality of the proposals, as well as their artistic and technical viability.
