: re-elected as president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez will keep his chair until 2029

The president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, the only candidate for his succession, was re-elected on Sunday for a fifth mandate in a row running until 2029, announced the reigning Spanish and European champion club. “As there was only one candidacy, (Florentino Pérez) is elected president of Real Madrid”, indicated the club in a press release published after the large victory (4-1) of the Madrilenians against Las Palmas, marked by a doubled by Kylian Mbappé, which allows them to return to the top of La Liga.

Florentino Perez, aged 77, has been re-elected as head of the Madrid club continuously and without opposition (2013, 2017, 2021 and 2025) since his return in 2009. The businessman was elected for the first time in 2000 as president of the “Galactics”, who won 2 national titles (2001, 2003) and a Champions League (2002), before resigning in 2006.

Since 2009, Real have won five Spanish championship titles and six Champions Leagues, including three in a row (2016, 2017, 2018). With Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr, the Madrilenians aim to win 16th C1 this season, despite a mediocre group stage. Twentieth with 9 points, the Merengues must win on Wednesday against Salzburg to permanently reassure themselves.
