The Grand Théâtre National Doudou Ndiaye Coumba Rose initiated an innovative cultural project with the choreography “Bakû National” to encourage Senegalese athletes in preparation for the African Cup of Nations (CAN) and the 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) This artistic work is inspired by the traditional rhythms and rituals of the different ethnic groups of Senegal, combining percussion and dance. Champion Reug Reug is at the center of this captivating performance.
The restitution of this artistic residency took place after three weeks of work at the Grand Théâtre, in the presence of numerous authorities. The event highlighted the importance of promoting Senegalese culture while providing moral support to athletes, preparing them for international competitions. According to information read on the website of our colleagues at Kawtef, the project aims to be broadcast in the 14 regions of the country, offering young people the opportunity to immerse themselves in this cultural enrichment.
