What are the expectations for Fourmaux for his first with Hyundai?

For Adrien Fourmaux, this 2025 season is synonymous with discovery. The discovery of a completely new environment because after five years under the same roof, that of M-Sport, the Northerner agreed to a change of scenery to bounce back at Hyundai.

A transfer which allows the Tricolore to revise its ambitions upwards within a team with greater resources and above all more competitive equipment. With the i20, the 29-year-old driver, who tasted his first WRC podiums last year, will now be able to dream of a first victory in the premier category. In any case, this visit to the South Koreans is part of this perspective.

Two preparatory outings

Adrien Fourmaux will soon be able to get a real idea of what his Hyundai i20 is worth in competition since the Monte-Carlo Rally only arrives in a few days (January 22-26). To prepare for this, the Frenchman was able to complete two test sessions. A first last December during the Rallye Dévoluy, where he hadn’t quite driven his own except that of Thierry Neuville, and more recently in the Hautes-Alpes with the entire Hyundai team and especially his mount.

« It’s not yet completely adjusted as I would like.he confided during this final training session before Monte-Carlo. There’s a bit of work to do to get me perfectly comfortable in it. We started from the settings we had at Dévoluy. Then we tried various solutions to see if it suited me or not. I am always looking for the best set up, especially in my braking phases. It doesn’t quite do what I would like.. »

Time for the race

From now on, Adrien Fourmaux is working with his engineers to fine-tune the final settings before his first departure under his new colors. In Monte-Carlo, the emphasis will always be on learning even if the Seclinois will remain on the lookout for a great opportunity.

« My first round of the World Rally Championship took place in Monte-Carlo (2019 on a Ford Fiesta R5), where I was able to score my first points in the championship, which leaves me with good memorieshe recalls.

That said, it is the most difficult rally of the year due to the conditions. It’s hard to describe what it feels like here, it’s truly something special. We work closely with the team to determine which tires we should use, sometimes considering what will be fastest for the whole loop rather than just one stage. For my part, my objective in Monte-Carlo is to help the team as much as possible in view of the Constructors’ championship, but I also know that I need to sign a good first to ensure that I score points for the start of my season. It’s like a home event for me, with a lot of stages in , so getting a good result here would mean a lot to me. » It’s up to him.
