Merciless against Yoshihito Nishioka to whom he only allowed five short games in just 1h15 of play, this Wednesday in the second round of the Australian Open, Carlos Alcaraz was doubly satisfied during his visit to the press conference given that his match was scheduled in the middle of the day.
An essential factor for recovery as the Spaniard clarified. Excerpts.
Q. You played on Margaret Court in your first two matches. Have you asked to play on this court and do you like playing on this court?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: I like playing at the Margaret Court Arena. I think it’s a very beautiful short. Obviously, I want to play on Rod Laver, but we will also have to see the lineup. As I’ve said many times, I don’t like playing in night sessions. I prefer to play in daytime sessions. After the match, I recover much better. I can go to bed at a good hour. It’s not too late for me. So I prefer to play in daytime sessions. If I have to play on the Margaret Arena, which is a very nice, big court, I will. Obviously, the center court of the Grand Slam tournaments here in Australia, the Rod Laver is one of those courts that you want to play on.
