For their first match of 2025 in the Regional 1 championship, the Biarnais had a huge challenge to take on with a trip this Sunday afternoon to the (synthetic) pitch of the leader of Pool B: Rodez 2.
Opposed to a Ruthenian team undefeated at home this season, the best attack in the group, and which has only conceded two defeats in ten days, the Lotois nevertheless played their luck to the fullest, but against a team made up of professional players who were not playing with the Ligue 2 and national U19 team who did not have a championship day this weekend, the Biarnais lost 4 to 0.
The first period was, however, rather balanced, with the game often taking place in midfield. Well in place, the visitors conceded few chances until a quarter of an hour into the game when the Ruthenian team, who played fast and ran the ball, opened the scoring with a through ball concluded by the local attacker.
In this match with a lot of rhythm, the players of coach Patrick Gauthier held the lead high and did not hesitate to move forward.
But ten minutes before half-time, on a rapid offensive from the locals, the Ruthenian striker, receiving a good cross, doubled the lead.
At the break, the score was 2-0 in favor of the leader who took the match into his own hands in the second half. Monopolizing the ball and continuing to play quickly, the Ruthenian team finally took cover in the 65th minute following a penalty converted by the local striker.
Five minutes later, on a quick counter-attack, the Aveyronnais added a fourth goal with a header in the area.
A new big challenge awaits AF Biars Bretenoux (ranked 12th with 7 points in 11 matches) next Saturday with the arrival of the third in the group L’Union Saint-Jean FC (author of a 2-2 draw this weekend in ) on the site of Biars-sur-Cère.
