The Montreal Canadiens still have a very good bank of prospects who have not yet made the jump to the professionals.
Indeed, several young players who are still playing in Europe or in the junior/university ranks are attracting attention among CH fans and generating excitement with a view to their possible arrival in the pros.
Obviously, Ivan Demidov is the one getting the most attention, and otherwise, there is a lot of talk about Jacob Fowler as the Habs’ next number one goalie.
However, we must not forget a certain Michael Hage, who is performing really well and beyond the expectations that were placed on him at the start of the NCAA season.
Indeed, as a rookie, Hage was seen as a young player who might take some time to adapt to the NCAA level.
But in the end, from the start of the season, Hage demonstrated how dominant he was, even as a rookie and newcomer to the University of Michigan.
Hage has been so good since the start of the season that he currently finds himself at the top of the top scorers among first-year players in the NCAA.
With his 11 goals and 13 assists, Hage is the only first-year player to have reached ten in both statistics since the start of the season.
His 24 points in 19 games even put him ahead of James Hagens, who is seen by many as the potential first overall pick in the next NHL draft.
Obviously, Hagens is younger, but it’s only six and a half months that separate the two players.
Hage was one of the youngest players drafted in the last auction, so to see him at the top of the NCAA rookie scoring charts is very impressive indeed.
-The 18-year-old Habs prospect stands out in each of his NCAA games, as he did this weekend by obtaining three assists, including two yesterday, in two games.
Hage is extremely talented, and he is really building great potential that could very well take him to a position in the top-6 of the CH one day.
It will probably not be for next season like Ivan Demidov, but all the same, for a 21st overall pick, Hage represents a very good project which could greatly contribute to the future success of the Canadian.
