Manchester City had fun in the FA Cup, with an 8-0 victory against Salford. Jérémy Doku quickly put the Skyblues on velvet.
The last few weeks have not been easy for Jérémy Doku at Manchester City. Pep Guardiola made it known that he was not satisfied with his performance and walked his talk by leaving him on the bench for the entirety of the last two Premier League matches, with two victories to boot.
Fortunately, the busy schedule is there to ensure that Doku continues to benefit from a certain amount of playing time. The Red Devil was thus in the starting line-up for this third round of the FA Cup against Salford, residents of the fourth division. Kevin De Bruyne, on the other hand, was a reserve.
Doku at the party again
City didn’t take long to get going, with a first arrow fired by Doku. Well shifted to the left of the rectangle, the former Anderlecht player rolled up his ball in one step, his recovery entered via the post (1-0).
After Timothy Castagne, Amadou Onana and Wout Faes, it is Doku’s turn to find the net again, having not scored in seven games.
Youngsters Divin Mubama and Nico O’Reilly then followed suit to make it 3-0 at half-time. In the second half, Jack Grealish and James McAtee in turn increased the score. But the score was not closed, Doku made it a little saltier by taking a penalty twenty minutes from time (6-0).
Author of a double, he also has two assists, notably thanks to McAtee, who will finally offer himself a hat-trick. Manchester City won 8-0, a welcome score after these last trying weeks.
