Beaten by the one and only goal from Dennis Ayensa, at Standard, Kortrijk is still penultimate in the Pro League. Yves Vanderhaeghe, however, refuses to worry, because he has seen positive things from his players.
This Friday evening, Standard won by the smallest margin against a team from Kortrijk which posed some problems. If the Rouches had the greatest number of clear chances, Yves Vanderhaeghe’s players could have come back to score in the second period, as the Kerels coach pointed out at a press conference.
“We saw another team from Kortrijk, who tried to play football and who knew how to create chances. However, we did not seize our moments, even if we were behind by the score. In the second half, the face-to-face -facing 1-0 can help us come back, but we missed success.” A duel won by Laurent Henkinet, ahead of Ambrose.
“To score, we also have to improve our finishing compared to what we did. It’s ‘disgusting’ to lose 1-0, we need points. We can be disappointed, but also motivated thanks to our good away match at Standard.”
Still penultimate, KVK is getting dangerously close to a place in the play-downs, like last season. Yves Vanderhaeghe, however, saw some positives, which reassures him for the end of the season.
“I’m not afraid of any team. We lose every week, it can only get better. I saw a different Kortrijk team today and we have to build on that,” concluded the Kortrijk substitute. Freyr Alexandersson in the Flandrian club.
