The subject had already been raised and it came back to the table this Friday, during the joint wish ceremony between the prefecture and the departmental council: the prefect of Morbihan Pascal Bolot announced that certain departmental roads would go back to 90 km/p. h. Around thirty sections would be affected. The implementation of this new road regulation should occur during the first quarter of 2025 and only concerns roads that are sufficiently safe to do so, 2×2 lane portions, in particular. 8% of the departmental road network is affected, according to the prefect’s chief of staff Ronan Lepage, which represents approximately 350 km of road.
Four distinguished Morbihan residents
The president of the Department David Lappartient said in 2022 he was in favor of a step back. Since July 2018, secondary roads have been limited to 80 km/h. However, since December 2019, an amendment authorized the departments to return to 90 km/h.
On the occasion of the ceremony, three Morbihan personalities received the Department’s medal: Morgane Suquart and Madeg Ciret-Le Cosquer, designers of the trimaran which served as a support for the mechanical horse of the Olympic Games ceremony, Yves Borius, former mayor de Sarzeau and departmental advisor, and Najim Bendahou, president of the Lorient Red Cross.
