Olivier Sverzut: “Reset the counters!”

the essential
Olivier Sverzut returned to USVL 47 at the end of last season. The ex-Agenais was able to restore confidence in the group.

How did the confectioners’ truce go with a month of stopping competitions?

Pretty good. We finished training on December 18, the Wednesday after the match against the Baronnies, and we resumed just after the holidays with training against Sainte-Livrade last Friday, and three training sessions scheduled this week. I found the group involved and diligent from the start.

What do you expect from this meeting against Pont-du-Casse?

It’s a very important match for the rest of the season, the first against the second… But the following match against Bon-Encontre Boé will be too, as will all the matches until the end of the season. All points will count. Of course, this Sunday, we will want to reset the counters with Pont-du-Casse, which is the only team which has beaten us at home this year.

What are the club’s objectives for this year 2025?

Obviously, firstly, given the results of 2024, we are looking upwards, and we want to fight for the first two places. We have met all the teams now, and we know that our biggest opponent is ourselves. On the reserve side, the objective is to qualify. Even if the results are slightly less good, the group is of excellent quality and, if we have good results in A, it is also because we have a good B. One and the other necessarily go together.
