“I have absolutely nothing new”

Virgil van Dijk is one of the three blue-chip Liverpool players whose contracts end in June 2025, with Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, all free to negotiate with other clubs now that their contracts have entered the final six months.

But while the other two cases appear destined to leave Anfield, there is a feeling that the Dutch captain will remain at the Mersey club next season. That said, there is no new information regarding a possible extension, Van Dijk revealed on Sunday after Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against Manchester United.

“I don’t think there will be anything new soon, but I remain calm, as I said several months ago“, he told ‘Sky Sports’. “We will see what happens in the future and at the moment I have absolutely nothing new.”

In the absence of any new information, the defender said he was focusing on the Reds’ next match against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup. “Right now it’s about focusing, for me and the team, on Spurs. It will be a tough match again, but a great semi-final“, he concluded.
