To think that in December 2024, we saw Lane Hutson in the “mix” to obtain the Calder Trophy (awarded to the rookie par excellence), but that he was far from being the favorite. In the end, not only did he win, but it was unanimous. His 67 points allowed him to have the best season in Canadian history for a rookie. It was the 4^e best rookie season in NHL history, two points more than Raymond Bourque.

Suzuki at the Olympics

You wouldn’t have bet on it a year ago to the day, but Canadian captain Nick Suzuki will be part of Canada’s roster at the Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, which begin in a few weeks. He’s likely to be the fourth center behind a few better guys in Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon and team captain Sidney Crosby.
