The Finn was critical of his former team before Monday night's game against him, something the Blue Jackets, from senior management to the players, really didn't appreciate.
Laine was bullied on the ice, he left the game in the first period and never returned. That said, the organization's revenge did not stop there, since it decided to cancel the broadcast of a video paying tribute to the 26-year-old athlete during the match, according to information from journalist Aaron Portzline of the site The Athletic.
“The Blue Jackets had prepared a welcome video for Laine to air during a televised timeout in the first period,” he wrote in an article published Monday. But during the afternoon, they decided not to show it. The last time this happened was when Ryan Johansen returned to Columbus after being traded to the Nashville Predators midway through the 2015-16 season.
After the game won 5-4 by his team, defender Zach Werenski also attacked Laine, declaring that his former teammate's comments were “crap.”
Since the start of the season, Laine has scored eight goals and obtained one assist, for 9 points in 10 outings.
