The Swiss far from the mark in Davos

If the weekend started in an exceptional way with the double podium in the team sprint, it ended in a tailspin for the Swiss cross-country ski team at home. In Davos, the Swiss cross-country skiers remained far from the lead, and even from the top 15 which was the objective of the day in the 20 km contested in classic style.

Jonas Baumann was the best Swiss representative. The Grison took 24th place 2’34 behind the Norwegian Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget who won brilliantly ahead of the Finn Livo Niskanen and the Frenchman Hugo Lapalus. Jason Rüesch (31st), Beda Klee (36th) and Nicola Wigger (38th) missed the top 30. No Romand was at the start of the event.

Best performance for Giuliana Werro

The satisfaction of the day comes from Giuliana Werro. The 25-year-old from Grisonne set the 27th fastest time, to greatly improve her best result in the World Cup. She finished just ahead of Nadine Fähndrich who had to settle for 29th place. Anja Weber ranks 33rd.

The victory is also Norwegian with the success of Astrid Øyre Slind, ahead of Livo’s big sister, Kerttu Niskanen. Therese Johaug took 3rd place and already signed her fourth podium since her return to competition, two years after her first retirement.
