Regragui and Ben Seghir rave about Achraf Hakimi

Ahead of the CAF Awards ceremony which will take place on Monday, December 16, the French program Téléfoot devoted a report to Achraf Hakimi in the running for the African Ballon d’Or, during which Walid Regragui and Eliesse Ben Seghir did not failed to paint a glowing portrait of the versatile full-back.

Serious candidate and winner of the Ballon d’Or (according to some sources, to be taken with a grain of salt, editor’s note), Achraf Hakimi was the author of a great season within Saint-Germain where he became one of the leaders and essential player in Luis Enrique’s training. In selection, the Atlas Lion wears the captains’ armband and is considered an example for his teammates.

In this sense, his selection coach Walid Regragui spoke of his role affirming that he considers his player as “the best full-back in the world”.

“It’s not enough to have an armband to be captain. Achraf, without having the armband, he has always been a leader. That’s why it makes him a natural captain.”he emphasizes.

Statements which echo those of his compatriot Eliesse Ben Seghir. “He welcomes everyone new to the selection in the same way. He is a very kind person, very attentive too. This is not a person who is going to be the star, as one might expect. He is very humble and helps us in selection when it is difficult. This allows us to flourish”he says before adding that the Ballon d’Or title would be deserved for the Parisian.

“Obviously, it would be deserved for him. He is a remarkable, impeccable player. He manages to bring together young and old people. He is an incredible captain and teammate”he says.
