PSG: A brand new Parc des Princes at 500 ME, Qatar has everything planned

Unable to buy the Parc des Princes, SG plans to build its own 60,000-seat stadium in the suburbs. A 180 degree turn since the Parisian club had a plan to give this capacity to the Park.

Seeing Paris Saint-Germain leave the Parc des Princes, a realistic scenario for the future. In conflict with the Paris town hall, the Parisian club wanted to buy the historic Porte de Saint-Cloud enclosure. However, the municipality is opposed to the price offered by PSG: maximum 50 million euros. A conflict which pushes Nasser Al-Khelaifi to threaten a move to the suburbs. The French champion could build a modern stadium with 60,000 seats there, accommodating more people than at the Parc des Princes (48,000 seats). A project which does not make Anne Hidalgo and her assistants happy, frightened at the idea of losing such a tenant. The mayor of Paris still thinks about changing PSG's mind.

PSG had its Park of the Future in 2021

Given the determination displayed by the Parisian president, the task is not easy. However, The Parisian reveals that Paris SG had considered a project to expand the Parc des Princes. An idea taken in consultation with Paris town hall. Discussions started in 2018 and seemed to have concluded in 2021. The Park was to increase from 48,000 to 60,000 places with certain modifications. The stands would have been demolished, making those at the corners straighter and above all closer to the pitch. To compensate for this, the roof would have been extended with “ a light curtain system ».

The changes did not stop there according to the Ile-de- daily. The surroundings of the stadium had to be redeveloped with the arrival of hotels, businesses and offices. The coverage of part of the Paris ring road was anticipated with funding from the municipality. The overall budget of the project extended to 500 million euros, covered largely by PSG. Open at the start and close to having the building permit, the Parisian club closed like an oyster when the town hall did not want to sell it the Parc des Princes. Enough to frustrate supporters who far prefer this option to leaving the capital.
