Taylor Hall broke a tie in the second period and the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Rangers 2-1 in New York to end a five-game losing streak.

Hall accepted a pass from Connor Bedard on a two-on-one run to beat Igor Shesterkin with a low low shot. He ended a five-game scoreless streak, with six goals and 11 points in 27 games this season.

Tyler Bertuzzi opened the scoring and Arvid Soderblom stopped 29 pucks to sign his second victory in nine games this season, despite an efficiency rating of .921. He has only nine wins in 59 games in the NHL.

Will Cuylle scored his first career shorthanded goal. However, it was not enough to avoid an eighth defeat in 10 games for the Rangers.

Shesterkin was targeted 32 times and surrendered twice.
