Proto tackles a Standardman: “He has no place in JPL”

This Sunday afternoon, Standard hosted Ghent for its last home match of the year. A meeting with two faces from the Rouches.

Two completely different halves with a catastrophic first forty-five minutes or so and a much better second half, particularly due to the changes made by Ivan Leko.

A team with two faces

It must be said that the Croatian technician will have fielded a basic eleven which was not up to standard, as he himself admitted. Realizing after ten minutes that some things were not going right, Leko waited until half-time to make adjustments.

There are also players who, without being replaced, will have shown two faces. This is the case of Isaac Price, who thought he would make the difference by scoring a goal which was ultimately canceled.

“In one half, Price can have the Golden Shoe. He embodies the Standard, Price is the Standard: ghostly in the first half, he doesn't touch a ball, the number of bad passes he done, then he scores a goal (cancelled)”, declares Marc Delire to Sudinfo.

“He has no place in the team”

For Silvio Proto, the player has no place in the squad. “The Price that I saw has no place. I'm not saying that the Price with the qualities that he doesn't show has no place,” nuanced the former Anderlecht player.

Depending on how the rest of the team plays, which is often not a dominant way, the Northern Irishman cannot always fully express himself, as he does with his national team.

Under contract until 2027 with Standard, Price is essential in the Leko squad even if he cannot convince the supporters. The complicated situation of the club obviously does not help and to allow Price to evolve with the right players at his side, the takeover of the club will have to materialize quickly.
