A duo stands out at the top of the Vendée Globe: Tuesday, Charlie Dalin (Macif) was still ahead of Sébastien Simon (Groupe Dubreuil) while Yoan Richomme (Paprec-Arkéa) was left behind. At 3 p.m., Dalin was ahead of Simon by 34 nautical miles, Richomme was more than 300 nautical miles away.
The three skippers, having chosen the southernmost route among the 15 leading sailors, have further widened the gap over the rest of the troop, since Thomas Ruyant (Vulnerable), the fourth, is now almost 400 nautical miles behind. Charlie Dalin.
In 10th place, Justine Mettraux (Teamwork-Team Snef) once again took the place of first sailor from Samantha Davies (Initiatives-Cœur) during the night. But the arrival of two southern depressions could well reshuffle the cards.
“The sea is really atrocious, it shakes, it hurts the heart for the boat,” explained the Geneva sailor, who is right in the Agulhas current. I try to keep a good average without going too fast but it’s hard, the sea is really in all directions. We can’t wait to get out of there!”
1500 kilometers from his colleague from Versoix, Alan Roura is still 23rd. “I’ve been doing well on the boat in recent days, it’s really nice to play strategy on the water,” the skipper writes on his site. Now, it is in the long term that we must play, to succeed in getting through the second depression which will hit us on Friday, with caution. Strong wind, heavy seas: a beautiful picture!”
Third Swiss representative, Zurich’s Oliver Heer (Tut Gut) remained in 33rd position.
