Run for a good cause. It’s the idea of four volunteers from the RJR community radio station (Radio Jeunes Reims). “We set ourselves the challenge of running a half marathon”smiles Neil Saïb, RJR civic service. This volunteer, to whom blood donation is close to his heart, then has an idea: to do these 21 kilometers while raising awareness about blood donation.

The “Mara’don you sang” will be organized around June 14, for International Blood Donor Day. This event is still being organized. “You will be able to follow us throughout the journey, especially on social networks. The idea of this race is also to have highlights with our partners, throughout the course. We will finish the last three kilometers accompanied by everyone who wishes”specifies Neil Saïb.

Arrival will be at the donation house in Reims. “A festive village with information stands will be organized there”he specifies. “On site, people will be able to make a pledge by making an appointment to donate blood”continues the RJR civic service.

“One donation can save three lives. We try to save as many lives as possible.”

This blood donation is something simple and participatory according to the volunteers. “Everyone can make the French blood establishment work. One donation can save three lives”he adds. The French blood donation establishment is constantly seeking to find new donors. “With this project, we are on something accessible to everyone, almost everyone can donate blood at least once a year”smiles Julien Lampin, journalist at RJR.

Blood donation will therefore be the common thread of their adventure. It will be possible to follow their preparation on social networks. “Once a month on the 14th, we will release a video, it will be an overview of our preparation”enthuses Julien Lampin. An adventure that it will also be possible to follow on their Instagram account. “We will give advice on sport and blood donation. This could be around fear of the needle, information on the benefits of donating blood, the difference between plasma donation and platelet donation”he explains.

To carry out this awareness race, these four volunteers will undergo intensive sports preparation. “We don’t have the right physical conditions, we’re starting from afar”explains Neil Saïb with a smile.

These volunteers will benefit from the support of a nutritionist, a mental trainer and two high-level athletes specializing in running, François Barrer and Jérôme Breton. “When we offered it to them, they immediately accepted”enthuses Julien Lampin.

The four volunteers have just started their physical training. “The sports coaches gave us the first instructions. We are really getting back into shape at the moment”specifies Neil Saïb.

Their preparation can be followed on their social networks. Advice which, they hope, will give motivation. “We are ordinary people, maybe this can encourage other people to get active too”adds Neil Saïb. The first video of this adventure will be released on December 14.
