Lando Norris dominates in Qatar and warns Ferrari and Mercedes

Lando Norris shines by claiming first place for the Sprint in Qatar, giving McLaren a golden chance to seal the constructors’ title.

Lando Norris brilliantly took pole position for the Sprint in Qatar, giving McLaren a great opportunity to regain valuable points from their rivals. After two less convincing weekends, the Briton was delighted to regain sensations behind the wheel and to achieve this crucial objective.

An intense qualification on an ultra-fast circuit

“It’s incredibly fast hereresponded Norris, emphasizing the specificities of the Qatari route. The last sector feels like we’re just hanging on.”

Although pleased with his fast lap, Norris did not fail to note errors in his second attempt: “It was a decent lap, but I made too many mistakes on my second attempt. Despite everything, we came here to get pole, and that’s what we did. Mission accomplished.”

McLaren aims for constructors’ double

With Norris’ pole position and Oscar Piastri’s third place, McLaren is in an excellent position to accumulate points in the constructors’ standings. The objective is clear: win against Ferrari and maximize their advantage.

“We want to win, it’s as simple as thatsays Norris. As drivers, our ambition is to win every session. If we can get a double it would be great for the team.”

However, Norris remains aware of the fierce competition:
“Mercedes and Ferrari will be fast. It won’t be an easy race, but probably very exciting for the spectators. I’m looking forward to it.”

Oscar Piastri, a solid teammate

For his part, Oscar Piastri expressed measured satisfaction about his third place. “I’m reasonably happy“, he confided, before adding: “I didn’t have the best lap of my life, but in these conditions, it was complicated.”

The Australian driver still appreciated the challenges of the circuit: “With the increased grip compared to last year, the high-speed corners are really fun. It’s a pleasure to drive here.”

A promising battle ahead

With tight gaps and formidable opponents, McLaren expects an intense fight during the race. But with this pole position and a clear strategy, the British team is ready to give everything to maintain its momentum and aim for the summits.
