At the beginning of August, DAZN acquired the almost exclusive rights to Ligue 1 for the next five seasons, i.e. until 2029. To try to attract more subscribers, the platform will launch a promotional offer for Black Friday of a duration of three days.
The TV rights crisis impacted all French clubs this summer. The LFP had difficulty finding a buyer for the broadcast of Ligue 1, valued at 1 billion euros according to Vincent Labrune. Ultimately, after several weeks of negotiations between the parties, it was DAZN who emerged victorious. The platform which is growing in Europe broadcasts eight out of nine matches per weekend against 400 million euros per year. However, DAZN is having difficulty attracting subscribers. The price set for subscribing at the start of the season (39.99 euros per month or 29.99 euros for the version with commitment) caused a lot of talk, which contributed to increasing the use of illegal streaming to consume meetings. After an initial drop, DAZN will try its luck again and will offer a new promotional offer in the coming days.
DAZN will offer a Black Friday offer
After offering a price of 19.99 euros per month until the end of 2024, DAZN will once again lower its prices as part of Black Friday. Thus, according to information from RMC Sport, the subscription to the platform from November 29 to December 2 has been set at 14.99 euros per month. In total, compared to the amount at the start of the season, the price has been halved. A gesture which is part of DAZN's desire to reach the figure of 1.5 million subscribers by December 2025. As a reminder, if this objective is not achieved, DAZN will have the possibility of ending his contract with the LFP at the end of the 2025/2026 season when he won the call for tenders to broadcast Ligue 1 until 2029. All means are good to avoid not embarrass the whole of French football.
