Fifteenth in the Ligue 1 standings, with a small point ahead of the Nantes play-off, Stade Rennais is very clearly in a results crisis. After spending around €70 million during the last summer transfer window, the Breton club expected to once again play the leading roles in the race for Europe. But for several months, the SRFC has been disillusioned. And not just a little. To get out of this crisis, the Rouge et Noir thanked Julien Stéphan and hired a renowned replacement: Jorge Sampaoli.

The Argentinian did not have an enchanting start since his team lost in Lille, but El Pelado does not lose hope, because, as is often the case with him, Sampaoli turns to the transfer window to resolve his problems. During his presentation press conference at Roazhon Park, the former OM coach confirmed that he was hoping for reinforcements. “Yes, we talk a lot with the president and the sporting director. We have an agreement on future and current needs, otherwise I would not be here, to change history and have a team that is more ambitious.»
Rennes' interest is confirmed for Fabricio Bruno
Since then, the Brazilian press revealed about two weeks ago that Sampaoli would like to recruit two players he had under his command at Flamengo: Gerson and Fabricio Bruno. For the first city, the matter promises to be complicated, because the Carioca club wishes to extend the Auriverde international. On the other hand, the second seems more accessible. Aged 28, Fabricio Bruno is an indisputable starter within the central axis of Mengão. In SRFC's sights last summer, the Brazilian finally saw Blaugrana Mikayil Faye move ahead of him in the order of Rennes priorities. Today, the former Blaugrana is not particularly convincing and Rennes must above all manage the big tile that has just fallen on them: the rupture of Alidu Seidu's cruciate ligaments.

Recruiting a central defender is therefore more necessary than ever. But while West France announces that Rennes could focus on the Ligue 1 market, Brazilian journalist Julio Miguel Neto assures that the track leading to Fabricio Bruno is very hot. Rennes' interest, already existing, has strengthened since the arrival of Sampaoli. And that's not all. Rennes would prepare a first official offer of €14 million which would be sent to Flamengo next week. The local journalist adds that Rennes was ready to put in €13.5 million last summer and therefore slightly increased its proposal. The Breton chances of attracting Fabricio Bruno would also be far from weak since the Brazilian club would need liquidity.
