Zorgue frustrated by arbitration against Charleroi

Adem Zorgan, midfielder for Sporting Charleroi, did not hide his frustration after the 3-0 defeat against Genk during the 15th day of the Jupiler Pro League. Speaking to DAZN Belgium, he strongly criticized the refereeing decisions, believing that they influenced the course of the match.

“We had a very good first half. Also in the second, we started well. I felt that Genk was not in the match, but the referee put them back in the game. […] Afterwards, we were at fault for opening the score. They scored on mistakes and turnovers on our part.” Zorgan said. Captain Carolo complained in particular about arbitration which he considers systematically unfavorable to Charleroi.

“We feel that Charleroi is always being targeted. I’ve been here for four years, but I feel in every match that the refereeing is against us. He stupidly gives fouls to the opponent, he gives corners, keys for them, so I don’t understand. he continued.

Zorgan also expressed his disappointment over the suspension of teammate Daan Heymans, who will miss the upcoming match against Standard due to a disputed yellow card. “What is frustrating about the refereeing is that Daan Heymans will be suspended for the match against Standard, when in fact it is due to a probable error by the referee.

Despite the defeat, the captain remains lucid: “We are at fault on certain goals, in particular because of avoidable turnovers. But the refereeing did not help.” As a reminder, Adem Zorgan and his Charleroi teammates occupy 11th place in the Belgian championship standings with 17 points, not far from the relegation zone, only escaping it thanks to an advantage in matches won.
