Cadillac F1 will thus be based, in all likelihood, on the foundations of Andretti Global which recently opened a European base at Silverstone but also recruited big names in the discipline such as Pat Symonds and Rob White, while launching a major recruitment campaign. In Las Vegas, representatives from General Motors made notable appearances.
The future ex-Andretti project should therefore use Ferrari engines in 2026 and 2027, before using its own GM engines from 2028.
“As the pinnacle of motorsport, F1 demands innovation and excellence that pushes the boundaries,” comments Mark Reuss, president of General Motors. “It is an honor for General Motors and Cadillac to join the world’s greatest automotive championship, and we are committed to competing with passion and integrity to elevate the sport to the delight of racing fans around the world. . This is a global step to demonstrate GM’s technical expertise and technology leadership to a whole new level.”

The Andrettis, however, are not completely out of the game. Mario Andretti will play the role of non-executive director, a bit like Niki Lauda with Mercedes in his time.
“I feel very lucky to have been able to stay in the racing world for so long and do what I love for so long,” indicates the 1978 F1 world champion. “And the idea of the Cadillac F1 team wanting me excites me. I will help where I can, in a non-executive role within the team, not being involved in day-to-day operations, but offering advice , inspiration, friendship wherever I can. I’m beyond lucky.”
Recently arrived from Andretti Global, Michael Andretti for his part applauded the news.
