Martin St-Louis challenges Juraj Slafkovsky in front of the cameras

In 16 games this season, Juraj Slafkovsky had 11 points and only one goal. He’s not playing particularly bad, but we expect more from him, especially after the second half of the season he had last season.

We must not forget that the Slovak is still very young and continues to face the challenges of his young NHL career. While flashes of his talent are evident, his performances have room for improvement.

The head coach Martin St-Louis expressed a desire to see more of the talented winger, emphasizing the need for him to assert himself more effectively on the ice and capitalize on his physical strengths.

At a press conference today, the coach was very clear.

He has to move his feet, and he has to be more direct in the way he does it. […] It starts with him, he must anticipate the game better and move his feet.

– Martin St-Louis

St-Louis, known for its development approach, remains patient but firm. He pushes Slafkovsky to elevate his game and contribute at the level expected of a first-round pick. With the right adjustments and continued support, there is no reason to worry.

If we had to make a list of Slaf’s faults, it wouldn’t be very long, but the lack of hard work certainly wouldn’t be one of them.
