Catalonia would be monitored very closely by Fifa, according to daily information Mark . Indeed, the supreme football authority would have several clubs in the region in its sights after having detected around fifty cases of trafficking of minors. These, who come from Africa, Asia or South America, are said to be living illegally on Spanish territory, exceeding the one-year lease granted to young players to play football and study.
Barça not concerned
These authorizations are, always according to Markissued by the Territorial Federation of Catalonia. An investigation has been opened to determine on what scale this trafficking is organized. Important clarification, this matter would not concern FC Barcelona. As a reminder, Barça had already been singled out in 2016 for offenses relating to the transfer of minors by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) which resulted in a recruitment ban.

Spanish law is very clear on this subject: no non-EU player can be recruited if he is not 18 years old, 16 for European players. This would not have been respected by Espanyol Barcelona, the other big club in Catalonia, which would have brought in the young Lucas Alves from Brazil. If the fault is confirmed, the clubs risk a financial fine or, like Barça, a two-year recruitment ban.
