A double from Ovechkin! – VAT Sports

Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin continued his formidable streak of recent days by scoring his 14th and 15th goals of the season on Monday in a 6-2 win against Utah.

The 39-year-old Russian thus took sole first place among NHL scorers. He has five goals in his last two games.

Still chasing Wayne Gretzky’s NHL goals record of 894, “Ovie” now has 868. Utah goaltender Connor Ingram also became the 178th to allow a goal to the “Tsar” , which equals a record set by Jaromir Jagr.

Double for Ovechkin –

Dylan Strome, Nic Dowd, Brandon Duhaime and Aliaksei Protas also scored in the victory. The Coyotes’ response came from Jack McBain and Nick Bjugstad.

Ingram gave up four goals on 13 shots before giving way to Karel Vejmelka, who then made nine saves. In front of the Caps net, Charlie Lindgren stood out 24 times.
