International Meeting of Morocco: the horse “Al Othmane” wins the Grand Prix of HM King Mohammed VI for English thoroughbreds

Casablanca – The horse “Al Othmane”, owned by Mohammed Aziz Bennani, won the Grand Prix of HM King Mohammed VI of English thoroughbreds, counting for the 10th edition of the Moroccan International Horse Racing Meeting, Saturday at the Casablanca-Anfa racecourse.

The horse “Al Othmane”, ridden by Aziz Jabafi, won the major event of the first day of this prestigious competition, organized by the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Horses (SOREC) and reserved for English thoroughbreds. The second day will be dedicated to purebred Arabians.

Other events held this Saturday include the Breeders’ Grand Prix, which went to the horse “Lady Aida”, owned by Nicola Pucci Bloodstock and ridden by Janacek Vaclav. For its part, the Owners’ GP was won by “Black Gangster”, owned by Tobias Jones and ridden by Guillaume Guedj-Gay.

As for the SOREC GP, which is part of the international “Défi du Galop” series, it was won by the horse “Shining Dawn”, owned by Samir Fannane and ridden by Zouhair Madihi, while the horse “Dijoy Fal ”, owned by Fal Stud and ridden by Rachid Amenai, won the GP “Jean Pierre Laforest” (horses aged 2 years).

As for the “Prix de la Méditerranée”, it was gleaned by the horse “Briefing”, owned by Tarik Mansour and ridden by Abdelilah El Rherras, while the horse “Wukair Grine” owned by Al Ssakab Racing and ridden by Hedman Elin Linnea Bernita won the “Fegentri” prize. For its part, the horse “Rene de Zemmour”, owned by Moussa Azzeddine and ridden by Moussa Mohammed Ben Ahmed won the “” prize.

“The first day of the 10th edition of the International Meeting of Morocco, placed under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, was rich and saw a remarkable participation of Moroccan and foreign horses,” assured the general director of SOREC , Omar Skalli.

“This first day is very important in the annual horse racing agenda in Morocco, because it made it possible to take stock of the level reached by Moroccan horses, riders and all professionals, but also it was “an opportunity to promote the equine industry in general and racing in particular,” he told MAP.

According to him, the first day of this competition was marked by the presence of participants in the meeting held on Friday by the Mediterranean Horse Union, while Sunday will see the presence of representatives of the Union of Race Organizers. of purebred Arabians, emphasizing the importance of these meetings in strengthening ties and exchanging expertise between specialists from different countries.

For this edition, which celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Meeting international du Maroc, 14 races are on the menu, including eight international competitions spread over two days.

The races are broadcast in around twenty countries, including the United States, the Netherlands, Germany, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, Australia, New Zeeland, Cyprus, Turkey, Sweden, Ivory Coast, Italy and , allowing racing fans from around the world to follow this meeting live.

The day of purebred Arabians, Sunday, includes four prestigious prizes, namely the GP of HM King Mohammed VI, the GP of HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, the GP of HRH Prince Moulay Rachid and the Prix The President of The UAE Cup.
