Coupe de France: AS Vitré (N3) comes close to an exploit against Stade Lavallois (L2)

In this gala match which pitted two clubs only around forty kilometers apart, we had to wait for the penalty shootout, and the decisive save by Maxime Hautbois on Curtius’ shot to know the outcome of the match.

However, Stade Lavallois could have packed up earlier, if it had been more effective in the last gesture. In the first period in particular, the big successive chances from Camara (15′), Martins (44′) and Kokolo (45′) could have freed the Tango, but Barbé was very solid on his line.

Opposite, the Vitréens, initially very compact, managed to offer some nice sequences, without however worrying the Laval goalkeeper. The second period started again on the same basis, with Tango conquering but often too clumsy in the last gesture. Galvanized by the goalless draw on the scoreboard, the Vitréens showed themselves to be more and more dangerous, particularly in the transition phase. Le Gall could have showered the Mayenne team (63′) then Waflart in turn put Hautbois to work, with a vicious half-volley (71′).

Sensing the possible feat, the Vitré public finally pushed their team, but held their breath when Thomas, alone behind, found Barbé’s crossbar (90′). Direction the penalties, where Hautbois played the savior twice, and put an end to AS Vitré’s run. After their good run last season, until the round of 16, the Tango will have to dismiss Concarneau (Nat) in the 8th round.
